The Basics of Pinch Pots
Before starting a pinch pot, you want to make sure what you're molding the clay into. First start with a solid idea, or better, a sketch of your idea. Next, you'll want a bit of clay about the size of your fist. You also want to make sure you always have slip, watered down clay, on hand in case of a mistake or rip in the vessel. When working with the clay you want to work from bottom to top, keeping your thumb on the interior, while supporting the outside with your other hand. One you've envisoned what you wanted to create you can as texture, color, and fire it.
