Clay Dinnerware
-I believe that I thought out side of the box on this project. I think I did well on choosing the theme and displaying it in a incognito way because by just looking at the set you proably cannot tell the theme unless someone points its out.
- I could have done better on the cup/mug, they were never my strong point in clay, I could have done the cup/mug first and spent more time on it. - The theme of the dinnerware is shapes, the bowl is a triangle, the plate is rectangle, the cup/mug is suppose to resemble a circle (by the shape/doodles on the cup/mug), and the small plater is a square. -Most of the peices are simple, smoothed out peices. The cup and mug have a swirly pattern on them to emphasis the 'circle' of the shape of peices in the dinnerware. -I did not use any sort of symmetry, there are a bit of each. -They all go together, although they could go seperate. I winged this project, and it came out alright. Not having a set plan can actually work out okay. -I had a bit of a plan, I knew I wanted them white and clear glazed. I did not have the dinner ware as a pelimerary. First I made the bowl, that I found difficult. The bowl is a triangle and has many crevices that needed to be smoothed out. Then, I made the plate, that is a rectangle. I decided that I could do the theme: shapes. I then afterward made the mug/cup and the plater. -The dinnerware projects wasn't a project I was excited for or really cared about. It was a good project though because I learned diffrent ways to work with the clay, partially drying it out and carving at the clay. MUG, bisque.MUG, glazed.Note: before glazing the mug fell and broke, it was then put back together and fixed with clear glaze. However, the handle could not be save and it not much of a mug anymore, considering it leaks.
CUP, bisque.CUP, glazed.TRIANGLE BOWL, glazed but not fired.TRIANGLE BOWL, glazed.Note: Another glaze, it appears to be black, happened to fall onto the bowl while in the kiln. This glaze could not be removed, even when being glazed over.
LONG CONDIMENT TRAY, glazed.Note: No picture were taken before bisque or after.
